Blizzard Support Claiming a WoW Token Without Active Game Time

This seems logical since Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday is usually busy with reset activities and raiding and weekends are busy in general. To redeem your WoW Token for game time, right-click the item from your inventory. It was temporarily disabled on 24 January 2017 in the Americas, Oceanic, and European regions due to technical issues.[7] This only affected token sales and did not disable WoW Tokens that were already in players’ inventories. I Want Game Time

By choosing a fairly stable month and one not swayed by an upcoming expansion, we can hopefully glean some insights into the best days and times to buy and sell tokens. Can’t Buy WoW Token With Gold

If you are at or near the Battle.net Balance cap, you will not be able to redeem a Token for Battle.net Balance. Each character on a realm will contribute gold to the price of the Token, but if you only have just enough gold, you may need to log in to make the purchase. Putting the two breakouts together, let’s see how prices changed by hour on Thursdays and Saturdays. While this is fascinating, it may be even more helpful to see what prices look like depending on the day of the week.

Can’t purchase from character select

Once you click Buyout and confirm your purchase, your WoW Token will be mailed to you. To purchase a WoW Token for Game Time or Battle.net Balance, select WoW Token while browsing the in-game Auction House. If you have run out of Game Time you cannot interact with the WoW Token system in Classic Progression; you must consume your Token while you still have active Game Time on your account. You cannot buy a WoW Token for real money on a Starter Edition account or if your account is restricted by Parental Controls. When you purchase a token from the Auction House, you will receive a letter from the Auction House with the token.

Players can use the WoW Token item to redeem it for 30 days of game time, consuming the Token.[1] If the player’s account is currently inactive, they can redeem a Token through the character select screen. If the player does not possess any Tokens, they can purchase one directly from the character select screen for the current market price, with the gold deducted evenly from all characters on the selected server. “Players will no longer be allowed to purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House or the in-game shop for gold if they have not spent real money to purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time since 2017. The WoW Token was introduced to World of Warcraft in 2015 as Blizzard’s answer to real-world, third-party gold trading. Simply put, one player can buy a WoW Token (or several) for real money (at the price of $20/£17), then sell it to another via the in-game auction house for gold. The buyer can then cash in the token to claim either 30 days of game time for the MMORPG, or turn it into $15/£10 of Battle.net balance, which can be used for the Blizzard storefront.

Developer Blizzard confirms that players who have not spent real money on game time since 2017 will be unable to buy WoW Tokens from the Auction House or in-game shop until they have made an actual purchase. Region-wide ExchangeAs discussed in our original announcement, each game region (Americas, Europe, Korea, Taiwan, and China) will have its own shared WoW Token exchange. When the rollout begins in the Americas game region, players in North America, Latin America, and Oceania will all be able to purchase a WoW Token from the in-game Shop. In the Americas game region, the price of a Token will be $20 USD (or roughly equivalent in each local currency). We’ll share additional regional pricing details as we get closer to launch.

The WoW Token was created to give players with lots of extra gold the option to use it to help cover their subscription cost, and give those who want to purchase gold a way to do so from fellow players through a secure, easy-to-use system. The Token will be making its debut in an upcoming patch—in the meantime, check out the FAQ below for details on how it works. When you put a WoW Token up for sale, you’ll be quoted the amount of gold you’ll receive once someone buys it—you’re guaranteed to get that amount no matter how the market moves. In the image below, hours that had gold prices lower than the average gold price for the month are highlighted in green. Additionally, hours where the gold per dollar was better than average are also highlighted.

When a player buys a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, they receive an actual WoW Token item, which becomes Soulbound, and must kept in the player’s bags.

Conversely, if I am going to spend $20 to get in-game gold I want to get that extra gold. This aligns with what we understand about supply and demand and will be a pretty reliable rule of thumb in most cases. While expansion and other feature announcements can move a price significantly, this general takeaway should help you make an informed decision about when to buy and sell your tokens.

You can learn more about WoW Tokens in our original announcement and additional details post. You may also receive this error if you recently tried to buy a WoW Token and your payment failed. Tokens were added to the Classic branch on 23 May 2023, starting with Wrath of the Lich King Classic but can only be used for Game time, not for Battle.net Balance.[10] It is, however, not available in Classic Era. Tokens were enabled for the Battle.net Balance during patch 7.1.5 at various dates and currency amount.

This Token may not be traded or redeemed; it may only be listed for sale on the Auction House. For this article, I thought it would be interesting to look at some historical data for WoW token prices and see if we can find out when the best times to buy or sell a token are. Of course, if you are buying a token with in-game gold, you are going to want to pay the lowest price. Conversely, you will want to get the highest amount of in-game gold per unit of real money spent.

Once you click the Buyout button and confirm your purchase, your WoW Token will be sent to you in a mail that does not expire. If you have ever bought a WoW token, you know that the price can change by thousands of gold in the course of a few hours. Prices can skyrocket even more if a major announcement like a new expansion is made.
